Giving Thanks for Our Neighbors
(The Interfaith Council offers many thanks to Aaron Baker at Mulberry Creek Imagery for donating his amazing photography talent for this event.)
On Sunday November 18th, 2018 at 5pm, members of the Greater Concord Interfaith Council gathered with fellow Concord residents at Temple Beth Jacob to celebrate and express gratitude for our rich human diversity. Prayers, reflections, and sacred readings from Unitarian Universalist, Baha'i, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Society of Friends (Quaker), Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and Episcopal faith traditions were offered.
Musical selections included:
"I'm Gonna Sit at the Welcome Table"
"Dona Nobis Pacem" ("Give Us Peace")
"Let There Be Peace on Earth"
"Shalom Chaverim" ("Farewell in Peace:")
Each year the coordinating team from the Interfaith Council that plans the Thanksgiving service chooses a local non-profit to support through an invitational donation. This year those gathered heard from the Director of the Concord Multicultural Festival who shared that they are working towards expanding the program to become more than a single event each summer. At the end of the event, everyone was invited to donate towards the efforts to expand the wonderful work of the Concord Multicultural Festival. (If you would like to support the Festival, click here to donate.)
The Interfaith Council is grateful to everyone who participated in this year's Thanksgiving event.
